Homeopathic Remedy for Insomnia

​Homeopathic remedies can be very helpful to help with insomnia and Coffea Cruda is one that you may have heard off. Dosing the remedies is very easy and it can help to give you a good night sleep.

If you are going through a life transition or simply you are stressed or anxious about something, you may experience insomnia.  You may be going to bed and take really long to fall asleep, you may be waking up at a certain time at night and be unable to settle again or you may continuously wake up during the night.

This can leave you exhausted and on waking you can feel as if you have not had a good night rest. This, in turn, it will have an impact on your everyday life and your mood.

BANERJI PROTOCOL TIP

The Banerjies use
  •  Coffea 200 for general nervous anxiety when falling asleep and
  •  Ignatia 200 for sleeplessness after upsets or grief twice per day.
This tells us that the majority of people will respond well to sleeping problems with these two remedies.


​6 USEFUL REMEDIES FOR INSOMNIA TO HELP YOU GET BACK TO SLEEP
​

COFFEA CRUDA 200C
This is my favourite #1 night time remedy! it is most helpful for adults and children. This is one of the first remedies to consider.

This remedy is great when there is overactivity and overexcitability of the nervous system.

Clue: you may be feeling as if you had too many espresso coffees!

You may need this remedy if you are suffering from the effects of either 
  • good news  or
  • you are worried and anxious about something. 

This a remedy to help you relax if you are feeling over excited with joy and you are experiencing an increase in activity thinking about it, making you unable to settle at night. This is also a remedy for ailments from excessive laughing and playing in children and as a result, they can not settle down at night.

But this remedy will also help you to resettle if you are suffering from bad effects of sudden negative emotions( such a love disappointment or worry and you keep thinking about them. Either way, this remedy will help you get back to sleep! 

Sleepless on account of mental activity, the flow of ideas and nervous excitability.  You will find difficult to fall asleep because of some ideas will force themselves into your thoughts.

Restless sleep, and frequent sudden waking up. Awake until midnight.

Nervous palpitation may accompany insomnia. Stars up easily when sleeping and consequently waking up.

You may awake at every sound, and you find impossible to sleep if any light is on.

Finally, this is also a great remedy to resettle a sleep cycle that has been disturbed, either by looking after an ill person, by over studying at night or by slight disturbances such as a baby teething. 

ACONITE 200
This remedy is very useful for the effect or fear, fright, shock or anxiety and fear of the future that is preventing you from falling asleep.

You may wake up after midnight and you will be sleeping very light afterwards and in the morning, you can feel as if you have not slept at all.

You may prefer to sleep with the light on or the door slightly open.

Palpitations on waking.

You may be suffering from remote effects of fright that still playing in your mind. Fear of the fright remains.

Sleeplessness can be accompanied from nightmares about things that occurred during the day and have distressed you.

This is also a good remedy for Insomnia of the aged.

IGNATIA 200
Insomnia that stems from grief, worries and personal loss. Persons suffering from long concentrated grief.

You may be also suffering from frequent yawning and chewing motion of the mouth during sleep.

Waking up at night from 2-5 am, with very light sleep all night.

Dreams are repetitive of the same thing all night. With reflections and deliberations.
Homeopathic remedies to help sleep
DOSING THE REMEDIES

I like to prescribe these remedies 1/2 hour before going to bed and again at night if woken up again.

​NUX-VOMICA 200c
You may find that this remedy is helpful to you if you are suffering from sleeping problems as a result of too much work and rush of ideas. 

This is a remedy from sleeplessness from mental strain produced by either office work or over studying for exams.

You may be waking up at 3-4 am and a rush of ideas may crowd your mind preventing you from getting back to sleep.

Anxious dreams about work and things that need to be done during the day.

 ARNICA 200
Arnica is a great remedy for sleeplessness from being overtired from physical overexertion.

So if you have been doing too much gardening, gone for a long run or done too much physical exercise and you are suffering from sore muscles at night in bed that are preventing you from sleep, Arnica will help you to get a good night rest!

Compare with Arsenicum which is also indicated for muscular exertion.

ARSENICUM ALBUM 200C
Arsenicum sleepless is indicated in cases that stem from fear, anxiety and worry. 

There is a tremendous fear about death, making it a suitable remedy for those that have been diagnosed with a chronic disease. 

Also for someone who is a really anxious person in general and gets quite fearful about most things preventing them from sleep.

You may be feeling like electric shocks during your sleep and wake up during the night, especially at 3:00 am in the morning, experiencing a hot feeling and nausea. However, you can wake up from midnight onwards as well.

You may feel worse by been alone, and children may often want someone to sleep with them at night.

You may be having dreams of death and full of worries and anxiety.

If you are needing this remedy to settle you at night, you may dread going to sleep and feel very restless. On waking up, it may be difficult to get out of bed, feeling really tired and you may feel sleepy and tired during the day as well.

This is also a good remedy if you are mounting climbing that has overexerted your muscles and body.

I'm transitioning from my jet lag. I think I'll buy some sleep medicine from an online store to battle the nights that I can't fall asleep. As you said, insomnia can leave me exhausted, so I hope that it can help.

For jet lag, I would suggest a different strategy. Use a combination that targets the jet lag. There are many but this one is a good one: Arnica+Cocculus+ Nux vomica+Gelsemium in 30c. take every 3 hours during the flight and for the next two days. Use the other remedies in the blog later on for a more chronic problem.

As I am going through Perimenopause Hormonal Imbalance transition, Sudden and Abrupt Waking up between 4 to 5 and not being able to sleep after that and Former Deep sleep totally gone haywire so will Banerji protocol help sleep issues due to Hormonal Imbalance?

Coffea can help to take the edge but in your case, you will need remedies to regulate your hormonal system.

Hmmm Perimenopause Hormonal Imbalance transition phase is really the Cause n I did try PMDD n Menopause Bannerji protocols for symptoms for almost 3 months Ammonium carbonicum 200 every Alternate day n Sepia 200 n Pulsatilla protocol,most other symptoms slowly faded away but Sleep unfortunately totally went away😮so yes was looking for a Bannerji protocol for Hormonal Imbalance transition n Sleep 🙏...Thank you for Replying🌺🙏..

I think my sleep problems started years ago with menopause. I wake up often, every little sound disturbes me, sometimes I wake up hot and I often wake up around 5:00 and never really get back to sleep. Do you have information on menopause or should I try one of these remedies? Is there a Banerji protocol for menopause? Thank you!

How long COFFEA 200C should be taken for?

For as long as needed if it helps. You can take it for a week, for a month or on and off. That potency is ok, not too high.

Interesting.
I struggle plenty with insomnia and sleepless nights are not uncommon. At this point I'm ready to try anything past my usual glass of warm milk. Are there any side effects to using any of these options?
